The Mayor to give a brief report of recent engagements since the last meeting.

5.    County Councillor Report

To receive report from Essex County Cllr Linda McKenzie on issues affecting Harwich and Dovercourt and to respond to questions and enquiries from Harwich Town Council.

6.    Minutes of the Last Meeting

  • To approve as a correct record the Minutes of the meeting of Harwich Town Council held on 21st July 2026 (circulated separately).

7.    Matters Arising from the Minutes of the Last Meeting

  • MIN 039/26 – To receive reply from HIP in relation to changes to the A120 following public question.
  • MIN 043/26 – To acknowledge letter by Colchester City Council to Great British Railways Anglia in support of additional services on the Manningtree to Harwich branch line.
  • MIN 043/26 – To consider reply from Barclays Bank in relation to banking hubs and acknowledge response from Nationwide to MP in relation to their presence in the town.
  • MIN 046/26 – To receive update on Harwich Haven Authority’s Dog Waste Project

8.    Matters Arising from the Minutes of Previous Meetings

9.    Naval visits to Harwich

To agree a policy to present a town shield to any visiting naval vessel to Harwich.

10. Local Plan

To consider next steps in the Local Plan review and decide upon action to be taken.

11. Upper Dovercourt War Memorial

To consider sending a letter of support in relation to Upper Dovercourt War Memorial listing consultation.

12. Brief Reports by Members appointed to outside bodies by the Council

To receive the Minutes of previous committee meetings (circulated separately):

14. Accounts

To receive the financial report and to approve accounts for payment as per the schedule (circulated separately).

15. Correspondence Received in the Post or Matters Raised by Members

  • To receive letter of appreciation from Ian Killion in relation to illumination of the High Lighthouse for RNLI day.

16. Date of Next Meeting

The next meeting of Harwich Town Council is scheduled to be held on Tuesday 20th October 2026 at The Guildhall, Church Street, Harwich, at 7.00pm, or at the rise of the Town Planning Committee, whichever is the later.

Pursuant to Sub-Section 2 of Section 1 of the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 the meeting is closed to the press and public for the transaction of the under-mentioned business:

  • To consider appointment of additional Honorary Archivists.
  • To receive update on Digitalisation Project and defer appointment of scoping project consultant to the FGP Committee or Clerk in consultation with Cllrs Morrison, Calver and Fay if awaiting the next Council meeting would delays progress.
