PRESS RELEASE: Harwich Town Council supports Friends of Cox’s Pond
Harwich Town Council is aware of how pleased the local community is by the remarkable efforts of the ‘Friends of Cox’s Pond’ who are a group of local volunteers who have transformed this important feature in recent months.
The group had submitted a grant application to the council asking for funds to install two information boards at Cox’s Pond. One board will provide information about the history of the pond and the wildlife living there while the other will provide details of the initiatives being undertaken by the Friends of Cox’s Pond and give details of fund raising events.
At a recent meeting of Harwich Town Council’s Finance and General Purposes Committee the members unanimously agreed to grant the full amount requested and the £950 granted will fully cover the cost of the two notice boards.
Chair of the Finance and General Purposes committee, Cllr. Pam Morrison, says, “Everyone on the committee was aware of how pleased our local community is to see the wonderful improvements to this much loved local landmark and we were pleased to show the council’s support to the Friends of Cox’s Pond for their fantastic work.”
